From the Yorkshire Wolds to the Shelf: Crafting Premium Appeal and Quality for Breckenholme Trading Company

Breckenholme Trading Company is a family-run business nestled in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds. Founded in 2007 by Adam Palmer, Ben Palmer, and Paul Scothern, the company built its reputation on a simple but powerful idea: grow the seed, press the oil, tell the story.
From that first bottle sold at a farmers’ market in 2008, Breckenholme has grown into a multi-award-winning producer running two consumer brands — Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil and Charlie & Ivy’s — while also supplying contract pressing, bottling, and food manufacturing services to third-party clients.

Their products stand proudly on the shelves of independent farm shops, delis, food halls, and fine food retailers across the UK. Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil was recently ranked second in the Guild of Fine Food’s Best Brands Survey 2025–2026 — a testament to the brand’s reputation among discerning food lovers and retail buyers alike.

As the business grew and its products reached increasingly premium retail environments, Breckenholme recognized that the label on every bottle had to do more than simply comply with regulations — it had to speak the brand’s language: honest, rooted, refined, and unmistakably Yorkshire.

The Challenge

For a brand built on authenticity and provenance, the label is the first conversation between the product and the consumer. Breckenholme needed a label solution that could carry the weight of that conversation — communicating premium quality, farm heritage, and artisan craft at a glance — while also meeting the practical demands of a food producer operating across multiple SKUs, bottle formats, and retail channels.

The key challenges were clear:

  • Delivering a premium, high-quality finish that would hold its own in fine food retail environments alongside nationally recognized brands
  • Achieving consistent colour accuracy and print quality across a varied product range spanning oils, dressings, mayonnaises, and gift sets
  • Finding a label printing partner able to understand and translate the brand’s authentic, farm-to-bottle positioning into a tangible, tactile product
  • Maintaining flexibility and responsiveness to support the launch of new products and seasonal limited editions

Breckenholme needed a partner who shared their commitment to quality and could bring technical expertise and creative sensitivity to every run.

The Collaboration

Rooted in the same region and shaped by a shared heritage, All4Labels UK was a natural partner for Breckenholme. Its deep expertise in premium food and drink labelling—honed through years of collaboration with British artisan and specialty food brands—made it ideally suited to bring Breckenholme’s story to life on shelf.

From the outset, the collaboration was built on understanding. The teams from All4Labels UK and Breckenholme worked to define the precise technical specifications that would best serve the brand: substrate selection, finish types, colour management, and print technology, all calibrated to ensure the final label conveyed premium quality while remaining true to the product’s honest, natural character.

The result was a label designed to elevate every bottle in the range — bringing out the warmth and richness of the Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil brand and the contemporary lifestyle energy of Charlie & Ivy’s — while ensuring production flexibility to accommodate the company’s growing portfolio of products and seasonal launches.

The Outcome

The collaboration delivered a label solution that matched the ambition of the brand. Across the full Breckenholme product range, the new labels achieved a level of print quality and finish that reinforced the premium positioning of both Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil and Charlie & Ivy’s in fine food retail.

The labels now serve as a direct expression of Breckenholme’s farm-to-bottle story: the rich, honest character of the oil is reflected in every design detail, every tactile surface, every carefully managed colour. Retailers and consumers alike respond to what they see and feel before they ever unscrew a cap.

Operationally, the partnership also provided the flexibility Breckenholme needs to innovate — supporting new product launches, seasonal and limited-edition lines, and gift packaging with consistent quality and reliable turnaround. For a growing artisan food business, that reliability is as valuable as the print itself.

The All4Labels team are incredibly helpful in guiding us through the options and ensuring we achieved the premium finish we were looking for. The support throughout the process made a noticeable difference to the final product.”

— Jennie Palmer, Marketing manager– Breckenholme Trading Company

When a product is built on authenticity, integrity, and craft, every detail of its presentation must reflect the same values. The partnership between All4Labels and Breckenholme Trading Company is a demonstration of what happens when deep technical expertise meets a genuine understanding of brand identity — the result is labelling that earns its place on the product, and on the shelf.

This is the standard we hold ourselves to with every collaboration: precision, consistency, and the conviction that a label is never just a label.
